Q - How do I call home from Russia?
A - You dial 8 then wait for a signal then 10 and then the numbers for your country for example 46 for Sweden. Important! Leave out the zero before, (0)46.

Q - Where can I exchange money?
A - Usually all hotels have a small exchange office. They usually take a bad rate but it is safer for you. Generally all banks have possibility to change money as well, remember that you need to bring your passport there. Do not exchange money in the streets!

Q - Is it possible to use bankomats with a foreign credit card?
A- The bankomats in the center are perfectly safe to use. They take all major credit cards and give a good exchange rate. Some banks take 2% in commission.

Q - How do I get from the airport to Kaliningrad city?
A - At the domestic airport there is no problem getting there and back. There are regular busses from outside the main building. From the international part of the airport it is a bit trickier. There are no busses and you are forced to take a taxi if you do not want to talk several kilometers. Remember to always ask the driver for the price before going with him. A sum of 500 roubles is a acceptable sum. Anything over that, daytime is too much.

Q - Which languages do people in Kaliningrad speak?
A - Adults usually do not know any languages except Russian. However the younger generation nowadays knows either English or German. Menu's at restaurants in the center are usually both in English and Russian

Q - What is a Russian visa?
A - A visa to the Russian Federation is a document, permitting stay in Russia for a specific period of time. A visa lists entry/exit dates, your vital information, passport details and some information about the inviting party. Please note, that your Russian visa is an exit permit just like it's an entry permit. If you lose it or stay over your designated departure date, leaving the country could be more troublesome than entering it.
