The plauge epedemic

In 1352 the epidemic of plague has come to Königsberg. It had lasted for 4 months and 5078 people died. In a year it has come to Russian towns and in 1353 the grand duke of Moscow Simeon the Proud died of it. At the same time approximately the Grand Master Dusmen von Arfberg has founded St. Mariah’s nunnery. It was situated on the picturesque bank of Pregel and it was closed in the period of reformation in 1527.After that the nunnery quarters were used as a hospital and then for different other household needs. During World war the II it’s buildings were greatly destroyed and the remains were demolished in 1960’s
