The Steindamm church

The Steindamm church is one of the ancient churches of Königsberg. There is an information, that in 1256 the St. Nicholas church was inaugurated at Steindamm. In 1263 the foundation of the stone church was laid. In 1526 it was given to the Poles and Lithuanians, who were expatriated from their countries for their evangelic belief. During the Seven-year War, when the Russian Army was in Königsberg, the orthodox service was held there, and in the time of the French occupation in 1807-1812 there were sick quarters. In the time of World War the II the Steindamm church was damaged and then detonated. If looking at the present map of the city, we can say that it was somewhere at the cross of Zhitomirskaja street and Leninsky prospect.
