The opening of the horse tramway

The first horse tramway line in Königsberg was opened in 1881. It stretched from Poststrasse to Ulchental. In modern orientation it would be stretching approximately from Central Square to Kalinina park. By 1900 there had been 7 horse tramway lines. It’s “garage” was at the place where nowadays the garage in Barnaulskaja street is. Those years the railway building was rapid. In 1865 the train service was opened at the line Königsberg-Pillau and in 1885 the railway Königsberg-Kranz was opened. The trains were going according to the schedule sharp. In 1885 the Middle European time had been fixed in Königsberg. It was an hour different from London time
