The surrender of Königsberg

On October 27’th 1806 Napoleon’s army had occupied Germany and went to the east. The king Friedrich Wilhelm the III hid with his family in Königsberg and asked Russia for help. The emperor Alexander the I, who was faithful to the alliance duties, had sent the troops to the Prussian border. In June that year Russian troops were defeated near Friedland (Pravdinsk nowadays). On 15’th June 1807 Prussian general Rüchel had surrendered Königsberg to the French army and napoleon himself entered the city. War failures forced Russian emperor to seek peace with napoleon. The peace treaty had been concluded in Tilsit (Sovietsk today) on the 25’ th June 1807.
