The piano trio “Camerata Sambia” was founded on the initiative of soloists of the Kaliningrad Philharmonic Svetlana and Viktor Gribovsky. One of the ways of their creative activity is renascence of the rich musical heritage of the former Eastern Prussia by means of search and performance of compositions of old Koenigsberg composers. Playing also works of modern Russian as well as Kaliningrad authors, the ensemble tries to establish a live contact between the far-away musical culture of this land and musical traditions of Kaliningrad nowadays. “Sambia” is an old name of one of the Prussian lands. The trio became the first in Russia who played compositions of Koenigsberg authors: “Grand Trio” and Quintette by E.T.A. Hoffman, Trio ¹1 by H. Hötz. Nevertheless the ensemble pays a lot of attention to modern music. They were the first who played compositions of modern western composers: A. Malyavsky, A. Panufnik, E.Derfel (Poland), L.Toresen (Norway), O. Sigmund (Germany). In 1997 the trio became a laureate of the International Contest of Chamber Ensembles of K. Penderetsky in Krakow. “Camerata Sambia” takes an active part in concerts in cities of Russia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany, and is a constant participant of international festivals. In 2000 it became a laureate of Immanuel Kant Award for the contribution to the culture development of the Kaliningrad region as well as for the expansion of contacts between the Russian and European cultures. The trio consists of: Julia Nikolaeva (piano), Viktor Gribovsky (violin) and Svetlana Gribovsky (violoncello).
