Dmitry Vyshemirsky

Dmitriy has been in photography since 1980. Until 1990s worked as a photo reporter in Kaliningrad periodicals. In 80s did several photoexpeditions into GULAG places in Magadan and Arkhangelsk regions, where he made a series of photographs “GULAG traces”. In 1988 was awarded with Ogonyok magazine prize for the best photographs of the year. In 1998 was awarded with Recognition prize by the Kaliningrad region Administration for his exhibition “Waiting for mercy” and achievements in fine arts. From the middle of the 80s to 2004 prepared a series called “Atonement for Koenigsberg” about the Kaliningrad region, upon which a photoalbum of the same name was published in 2008. In 2007 Vyshemirsky finished his series “Post” – artistic reflection about post-German and post-Soviet environment of the Kaliningrad region. Now the photographer is working on “Open sea” project – collective portrait of the Baltic countries. In 2005 he was one of the supervisors of “Photo chronicle of Kaliningrad” exhibition, organised by Moscow Photography House. Dmitriy is a participant of personal and group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. He is the author of a number of Russian and foreign mass media publications. Dmitriy Vyshemirsky's works are seen in many museums and private collections in Russia, USA, Germany, Denmark and other countries.
