Vadim Khrapa

Vadim Khrapa was born in 1958. Since 1979 he got published as an artist-caricaturist in the USSR and socialist countries. Since 1980 he began writing short humour stories. Since 1981 he worked on the concert stages of Kaliningrad and the region reading his stories, monologues and sketches under the aegis of the Bureau of propaganda of the Writers’ Union fiction. In 1985 the above-mentioned activity was held up by the authorities. In 1986 he published some articles in the Moscow samizdat dissident magazine “Referendum”. The articles were translated to Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Swedish and German, that increased his popularity among the authorities. He co-operated with the Lithuanian magazine “Prusa”, publications of Latvian Popular Front. In 1994 he returned to the Russian periodicals with the publication of the story “Sorrowful travel of young man from Koenigsberg” published in the magazine “Zapad Rossii”. Since 1995 he began publishing sagas of Prussian epos in books “Sagas and tales of Vitland” and “Legends of Koenigsberg”. From 2001 till 2004 he is a scriptwriter and then a director of radio programmes “Encyclopaedia of Prussia” and “Prussian Chronicles” which were awarded later on radio festivals.
