The Brandenburg Gates

It was built approximately in 1860. The Brandenburg Gates were named after settlement, which was situated to the south- west from Kongsberg and this settlement was named after German land called Brandenburg. These gates are still remains their functions. On the both front sides in the city’s side there are two portrait- medallions with the image of field marshal Fon’Boyeen and general Fon’ Aster who was the author of the Kongsberg fortifications modernization project. There are two passages in the gates and special rooms for guard and prisoners. From the left side of the Gates remained two relief images of the Prussian eagles, which are the foundation of courts of arms of Prussian and Germany.
