The Friedrichsburg gates

The first fort was built in 1627; it was rounded with the billow and renowated. The gates was built in 1858 from the city side. Friedrich August Schtuler, the secret supreme building advisor is the author of the front of the gates. The fort was inte4nded to for blocking the Pregel if it was necessary. There were an arsenal and a small chapel inside. The fort became the part of the wall in 1843-1862. The gates were added from the city side. The fort with walls was destroyed after the First World War to lay the rail ways for a new goods railwaystation. The rebuilding of the gates began in the 90s but it was stopped soon. The “new wooden gates” were erected in 1996.
