The cathedral

The 13th of September is the date of the Cathedral’s foundation. It took fifty years to build it and it was built quickly enough as it was considered in those times. Having built as a catholic cathedral, it became Lutheran in 1523. Remains of more than 1200 famous people such as its founders, valiant knights, the Duke Albrecht and professors of the University buried in the underground cave near the altar and near the walls of the Cathedral. The Cathedral suffered from significant destruction and loss during the attack of English aviation in August of 1944. the monument to Immanuil Kant was kept by miracle. The restoration of the Cathedral has been carrying out since 1992. Museum complex was made in the West part of the Cathedral. The Cathedral has plunged into the ground more than for 160 cm from the date of the building.
