The Church of Ponart

This church was built owing to the efforts made by Robert Hoffman, the chairman of evangelical commune of the area, Shifferdecker, the director of the brewery , the Grubbs’ and also by the residents of the Ponart area and governmental subsidy. The church was sanctified on the 23th of July in 1897. The organ was installed in the Neo-Gothic building. Then it was replaced the one that was made in Hanover. The church wasn’t destroyed so much during the attack in April 1945 so the services were held for the rest German population. After their eviction the church was used as store and then it was re-equipped into gym “Storm”. In 1992 it was reorganized into Orthodox Church.
