The Reformer Church (The Orthodox St. Michael church)

It was built on german architect’s Friedrich Adler in the new roman style in 1890. It was founded in 1883 in honour of the 300-jubelee of getting Chernyakhovsk the city rights on the square called Markgrafen plats. Its high is 60 meters. It was used for garrison purposes. It was Lutheran Church. After the Second World War it was used as dancing and sport hall. It was given to the Orthodox commune of the Chernyakhovsk city. The walls are made of red baked bricks. Granite was used for decoration and floors. The roof was covered with slate roofing. The inner decoration was made of sand-stone and the cover of the altar was made of oak. The Church had the organ with 45 tones, clocks and 4 bells. The Church has great acoustics because of the good architectural planning.
