Chernyakhovsk

The Chernyakhovsk city, former Instenburg, the second largest city in the Kaliningrad region. There are 120 streets, 5 squares, more than 1500 houses, 38 thousand square meters of plants, 9 bridges, 3 parks, 25 public gardens, 7 monuments. 1336 is the year of the foundation of the city as the fortress Insterburg was built. In the 1920 s in XX century despite the unemployment and inflation the city was built very much. There were the port and the channel, the stadium with the swimming pool and a covered market. The trolley bus line was opened in 1935. It was the first line in Germany. The city was renamed into the Chernyakhovsk city in honour of the outstanding soviet commander I. D. Chernyakhovskiy.
